What is SAP Master Data Governance

SAP Master Data Governance (SAP MDG) is a software solution from SAP that helps WIRD manage company data completely and in one place, enabling the implementation of a central, company-wide data strategy. Uniform data quality and data integrity is always guaranteed.

SAP MDG uses an integrated and metadata-based system that supports the flow of data from ingestion, enrichment, and processing to publication and management. The software solution also supports the automation of processes including validation, investigation of missing data, regulatory compliance, and detection and correction of data quality errors.

SAP Master Data Governance offers functions for organizing structural and reference data, which enables uniform data management across all systems. It can also serve as an integration point for managing data from different sources, such as ERP systems , SAP Business Warehouse (SAP BW) and SAP Business Intelligence (SAP BI) and from external data sources. In addition, SAP MDG can also be used with other SAP products such as SAP ERP and SAPHANA integrated in order to increase the efficiency in the management of master data. In this way, companies can ensure that all systems are using the same data and that data quality remains high.

Policy management, automated workflow management and automated data mapping are also among the practical functions of SAP Master Data Governance. This ensures that master data is consistent and up-to-date. SAP MDG ensures data integrity in both SAP and non-SAP systems and is an integrated foundation for optimized business processes with higher productivity.
