What is SAP Warehouse Management (SAP WM)?

SAP Warehouse Management (WM) is a component of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system from SAP , which enables efficient goods and warehouse management across multiple storage locations. It assists companies in managing the movement of goods, inventory control and management, processing orders and tracking, and planning and monitoring warehouse management.

With the ability to automate warehousing processes, SAP Warehouse Management makes a significant contribution to reducing operating costs. SAP WM can be used to manage multiple warehousing processes, including inventory accounting, materials management, goods movement, and inventory counting.

The functions of SAP Warehouse Management include, among others:

  • Warehouse management: organization of inventory data, storage locations, storage procedures and material movements
  • Inventory Control: Management and control of inventory, including inventory management, inventory determination and inventory optimization
  • Order Processing: Order processing, including order tracking and order management
  • Tracking and Planning: Tracking and planning of warehouse resources, including tracking of inventory costs and planning of warehouse capacities
  • Reporting: Generate reports on various aspects of inventory management, including inventory reports, inventory management reports, and warehouse reports

As an integrated solution, SAP WM can also work with other applications to improve efficiency in warehousing, for example SAP EWM , SAPHANA and SAP Business Warehouse .
