What is SAP Financial Accounting
(SAP FI)?

SAP Financial Accounting (FI) is a core application of the SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and offers functions to support financial and accounting processes. It is suitable for companies of all sizes and industries and supports multilingual environments. SAP FI helps companies consolidate and analyze their financial data to make informed decisions and ensure secure financial reporting.

SAP FI includes functions for accounting, commercial processing, financial management and financial analysis. The accounting functions contain basics such as account master creation, account management, account balances and account journal. In addition, SAP FI contains practical functions for preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow reports and sales tax statements.

Functionalities are available for financial management that enable efficient management of working capital, risk-based financial planning and optimized credit risk assessment. In addition, trends, connections and comparisons between financial data can be analyzed and evaluated with SAP Financial Accounting.

SAP FI can also be used with other SAP modules to ensure optimal control and management of financial processes. This includes Controlling (CO), materials management (MM), production planning & control (PP), the Sales and distribution logistics (SD) and Human Capital Management (HCM). With the integration of these modules, SAP FI can incorporate the financial data from the other modules to enable companies to have comprehensive financial management.
