E-invoicing from 2025: Mandatory for German companies

Background of the webinar: In April, the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) sent a discussion draft on the introduction of electronic invoicing to the business associations. From January 1, 2025, all German companies must send and receive invoices exclusively electronically - similar regulations already apply in other European countries.

ViDA initiative and Peppol network

The introduction of electronic invoicing in Germany is closely related to the ViDA initiative, which will become binding across the EU from January 1, 2028. The aim is to modernize and harmonize the VAT system in order to combat tax fraud. At the same time, a transaction-based reporting system for intra-community B2B sales will be introduced, in which only certain invoice data will be transmitted to the tax authorities.
