Optimizing production planning: A connection between SAP and Hydra

What is the Hydra-8 system? 

Hydra 8 is a version of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) from MPDV Mikrolab GmbH. This MES solution has been specially expanded to include functions tailored to the needs of the plastics industry. It offers plastics processing companies a powerful tool for increasing productivity, reducing energy costs and optimizing manufacturing processes. Hydra 8 enables the monitoring and control of production, automatic generation of productivity indicators and the integration of quality assurance. It also offers options for recording and evaluating energy consumption in order to implement targeted measures to increase energy efficiency. 

How does our solution work? 

When a sales order or a production order is created in the SAP system, our interface automatically collects the relevant data and transmits it to Hydra in the form of a JSON string. This record contains all the important information, including schedules, times and rough planning details from SAP. Hydra processes this data and creates the order on its own platform. 

This is where the flexibility of our solution comes into play. Production employees have the opportunity to further refine their planning using Hydra. For example, they can take the availability of machines into account and plan the production process precisely using a timeline. The detailed planning information generated by Hydra is then sent back to SAP in the form of a JSON string and received there. Using our customer as an example Vitrulan Holding GmbH We have succeeded in implementing this process and linking it to your SAP system. Data from production orders, planning confirmations and production confirmations are exchanged bidirectionally, serial master data is created and handling units can be created in a simplified manner in SAP.
